analogous color scheming

Sometimes, less is not better. It's just a matter of having more of the right things. Colors are the same. Outfits too. One way you can layer on "more" color without looking like you accidentally fell on a box of crayons, is by sticking with an analogous color scheme. It sounds sneaky but is super simple.

Analogous colors are colors that are adjacent to one another on the color wheel (red-orange, orange, yellow OR blue, green, yellow).

Andrea and I always seem to plan our outfits in coordinating colors without actually planning to do so. This week was on par with that telepathic planning. We were both having a blue/green/yellowish sort of Sunday.

teal (blue-green), green, yellow

blue, turquoise (blue-green), yellow-green

Dreaming of other great color combos? Try these:
mint, kelly green, cobalt, yellow

emerald, teal, yellow-green

Sunday Shoes.

This is a little blog about two friends on opposite sides of the country. (Sometimes it feels like farther than that.)

In 2007 Andrea moved to California with her family. She had great shoes and perfect hair. Amy has lived in California her whole life. She liked making things and finding vintage skirts at thrift stores. It just made sense that they would become friends. So they did.

2012 moved Andrea to Maine, well, practically Canada if we're being honest.

This makes Sunday outfit coordination a little trickier. Andrea's "does this outfit look too smurfette" texts come through at 6am California time and Amy's "should I buy this sweater at J.Crew's texts go through at 12am Maine time.

Together, Andrea and Amy have great plans to solve life's mysteries. Eggs/no eggs in the perfect black bottom cupcake (BBCC) recipe? Where did Meg Ryan's plastic surgery go wrong? Why do we call heels "sunday shoes" or "church shoes" when we wear them for many occasions and events? Life is full of questions and we want answers.
